Coffee drinkers who favour iced and plant-based drinks will see more options at home this summer, as Oatly Group AB and Nestlé Nespresso announced the “second chapter” of their global iced coffee partnership on 17 June 2026, expanding the program from 15 to 26 cities worldwide. The renewed collaboration, unveiled from Malmö, Sweden, focuses on limited-time recipes and signature drinks built around Nespresso’s systems and Oatly’s Barista Edition oat drink.
According to the joint press release published via GlobeNewswire, the 2026 phase introduces four curated iced coffee recipes and signature-style beverages that are designed specifically for cold preparation at home. The companies state that these recipes will be available for a limited time through Nespresso’s online channels and boutique network, with activations rolling out across selected cities globally during the 2026 summer period.
The same announcement notes that the collaboration’s geographic footprint will grow from more than 15 countries in 2025 to 26 targeted cities in 2026, adding 11 new urban markets. In its background information, Nespresso reports operations in 96 markets worldwide and a retail network of 818 boutiques as of 2024, underscoring the scale of potential exposure for the co-created recipes and oat-based offerings.
The latest chapter builds on an initial partnership launched on 28 January 2025, when Nespresso introduced a limited-edition Oatly Barista Edition Coffee capsule for its Vertuo system. According to a 2025 announcement carried by Yahoo Finance, that capsule was developed in a double espresso size and was rolled out across more than 15 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, China and Australia.
Speaking about the renewed push into iced formats, Karsten Ranitzsch, Global Head of Coffee at Nespresso, said that “taste is always at the heart of everything we do” and that “as more coffee lovers explore iced recipes and plant-based pairings, we see an exciting opportunity to reimagine how great coffee can be enjoyed, especially during warmer months.” His comments were quoted in coverage by Global Coffee Report, which drew on the same June 2026 announcement.
Ranitzsch added that the continuing partnership with Oatly “brings together two brands that understand how people really drink coffee today,” stating that by extending the Barista Edition blend into iced and signature-style recipes, the companies are “giving coffee lovers new ways to create exceptional experiences – all summer long,” according to the GlobeNewswire release.
From Oatly’s side, Barista Development Director Toby Weedon described iced coffee as “one of the most exciting spaces right now,” arguing that Oatly’s Barista Edition “performs just as beautifully cold as it does hot, enhancing flavor, texture and balance without overpowering the coffee.” Weedon’s remarks, cited by Global Coffee Report, frame the oat drink as a tool for maintaining coffee character in cold preparations.
Weedon also stated that working again with the Nespresso team allowed both companies to “take everything we learned from our first collaboration and expand it further – into more cities, more occasions and more ways for people to enjoy oat-based coffee.” He added that, in his view, the partnership “shows how oat drinks continue to lead coffee trends, from the café to the kitchen,” as reported by Global Coffee Report.
The renewed iced coffee focus aligns with broader observations inside Nestlé’s coffee portfolio. Nestlé’s 2025 annual review, cited by EuropeSays.com, notes that younger generations are entering the coffee category through cold coffee and that it is becoming part of their daily routine, situating the Nespresso–Oatly recipes within a wider shift toward chilled formats among new consumers.
On the plant-based partner’s performance, EuropeSays.com reports that Oatly posted its first full year of underlying profitability in 2025, with revenues reaching US$862.5 million and a record 593 million litres of product sold. The same report notes that Oatly achieved EBITDA of US$86.5 million as part of what the company describes as a push toward structural profitability.
In its June 2026 coverage, Global Coffee Report states that consumers are increasingly embracing iced beverages and plant-based choices, and links this shift directly to the rationale for the expanded Nespresso–Oatly collaboration.
