Terra Kaffe has launched the Demi, a shoebox-sized automatic brewer that squeezes espresso, drip coffee, and Americanos into a footprint just over ten inches wide. The machine was shaped by Ammunition Group, the same studio that helped design Apple products. Designed as a zero-waste brewer, it avoids pods, plastic, and aluminum to slash environmental impact while keeping counters clean.
It comes in four matte colors: Cloud, Slate, Forest, and Sand. A brushed-metal dial and tiny dot-matrix screen sit on top, giving users a clear, tactile way to pick drinks. The spout slides up and down so mugs as tall as 5.5 inches fit underneath. These design innovations make the Demi look tidy on counters while keeping every tool inside, and at $795 retail price it undercuts many larger machines.
Brewing efficiency starts with a hybrid system. One tap shifts the machine from pressure-driven espresso to slow-flow drip. Users can tweak strength, volume, and heat for each cup.
Hybrid brew engine—one press flips between espresso power and gentle drip, with custom strength, volume and heat for every cup.
A built-in grinder takes whole beans, and a simple dial adjusts grind size for lighter or darker roasts. No pods are used, cutting out plastic or aluminum waste. The result is a menu that includes espresso, lungo, Americano, and drip coffee, all from a device no wider than many pod brewers.
Daily use stays simple. The water tank, bean hopper, and spent-grounds bin hold enough for several cups before refills. Clear windows on both sides show water level at a glance. The brew area pops out for rinsing, and a self-cleaning cycle runs on demand. Controls are labeled with plain icons, so anyone can get café-level drinks without training.
Inside, a fast heater sends hotter water through the grounds for fuller flavor. A quiet pump keeps pressure steady, matching standards found in bigger machines. Proprietary software tracks each setting, so the next cup tastes the same.
Terra Kaffe, a New York start-up founded in 2018, built the Demi to prove small can still be strong.
