Merriam-Webster Adds Cold Brew to Official Lexicon

Merriam-Webster has added “cold brew” to its Collegiate Dictionary in a major update that included more than 5,000 new entries. The change comes as part of a broad revision that reflects modern speech, tech terms, and lifestyle words. The 12th edition will appear in print after more than two decades without a big hardcover update. Editors say the new entries mirror how people talk and what they care about today. In addition to featuring new beverage terms, the update acknowledges evolving coffee cultures and preparation methods, such as cold brew preparation becoming more mainstream in homes and retail.
