A new generation of connected home coffee roasters stepped into the spotlight at World of Coffee San Diego in April 2026, led by Chinese brand Mago Maga’s launch of the Roma-X, a third‑generation 300‑gram fluid‑bed machine that adds AI, cloud profiles and smoke reduction to the kitchen counter, according to Daily Coffee News and the Specialty Coffee Association Best New Product Awards entry.
Daily Coffee News reported that the Roma-X, also called the Roma Pro V3.0, is a fully automated, wi‑fi‑enabled fluid‑bed roaster with a 300‑gram capacity and a 1,800‑watt system, 200 watts more than its plastic‑bodied predecessor. The new model features an aluminum body, a more powerful fan that transfers heat from steel coils via hot air, and a dual‑layer borosilicate glass roast chamber.
The Roma-X retains temperature probes for both bean mass and roast‑chamber air while giving users control over fan and heat power, according to Daily Coffee News. A 5‑inch touchscreen displays roast stages, the curve and remaining time from preheat to cooling, while a slide‑out metal basket at the top collects chaff and a glass receptacle receives the beans after an internal cooling phase.
On the software side, the SCA awards entry states that the machine will ship with more than 260 preset roast profiles, listing 266 preset curves in that documentation, all stored in the cloud with AI and machine‑learning support for ongoing evolution. “One of the most important features is that these roast profiles are stored in the cloud,” CEO Chifeng Lei said, adding that “with AI and machine‑learning support, the system can keep evolving over time. The more it is used, the smarter it becomes,” in comments reported by Daily Coffee News.
The company’s SCA entry notes that the Linux‑based platform connects via Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi to an app for Android and iOS, with a PC version in development and over‑the‑air firmware updates planned. Daily Coffee News reported that Coffee Is Home Intelligent Technology Co. is exploring AI‑generated profiles and smart automation based on user data to further integrate the roaster with its digital ecosystem.
Smoke management is a central part of the Roma-X pitch. The SCA awards entry describes a replaceable nanoparticle activated‑charcoal filter and states an approximate 90% reduction in visible smoke from roasting. “We made a huge upgrade here,” Lei told Daily Coffee News, saying the reduced smoke and new aesthetic mean “you can put it in your kitchen” rather than roasting in a garage.
The Roma-X follows two earlier Roma Pro generations from Mago Maga’s parent operations. According to a 2025 report by Daily Coffee News, the first Roma Pro launched in July 2024 at US$488 through the Mago Maga website and Amazon after raising about US$127,000 on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, with cumulative funds later surpassing US$500,000 as listed on magomaga.com. That original model offered five automated profiles, manual mode and dual temperature sensors but initially lacked app connectivity.
The second‑generation Roma Pro V2 subsequently won a Best New Product award at the SCA Expo in Houston in 2025 in the Consumer Coffee Preparation and Serving Equipment category, as noted by Daily Coffee News. The same report states that Mago Maga customers now span 30 countries, while the Roma-X enters the same product category at World of Coffee San Diego.
The Roma-X is not launching into an empty field. Daily Coffee News reported that the Stronghold S2, also offering 300‑gram capacity, and the smaller‑capacity Ikawa Go were introduced alongside the Roma-X at World of Coffee San Diego, underscoring an expanding lineup of higher‑spec home and sample roasters targeting the consumer segment.
Behind the new machine is a restructured company focused on connected home coffee equipment. In July 2025, Coffee Is Home Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. was established as a separate business from Time100 Inc. following the reception of the Roma Pro V2 at SCA Expo Houston, according to Daily Coffee News. Time100, founded in Beijing in 2011, had previously concentrated on watches, apparel and small appliances, as described in a 2025 profile by Daily Coffee News.
Looking ahead for the Roma-X, Daily Coffee News reported that Coffee Is Home plans a Kickstarter preorder campaign in summer 2026, with mass production in China to follow and shipping expected in fall 2026 at an estimated price of roughly US$1,000, although final pricing has not yet been set.
