Vietnam’s Robusta coffee prices are experiencing a remarkable surge, capturing attention in the global market. The prices have risen considerably, influenced by diverse market dynamics. In recent months, the average export price for Robusta coffee jumped from about $3,792 per ton to approximately $5,630 per ton, marking a sharp increase of 143%. Such changes have propelled domestic farmgate prices, leading farmers to hold on to their stock in hopes of even higher prices.

This surge comes at a time when Vietnam, the world’s largest producer of Robusta coffee, is set to export around 27 million bags in the 2025/26 season. The country’s export trends show a rising demand for processed coffee products, like soluble and roasted forms, with 3.3 million bags expected to be included in the total exports. Additionally, Vietnam’s unique climate conditions support the growth of Robusta, enabling mass production despite the challenges posed by climate change.

Though green coffee beans still make up the bulk of exports, their share is shrinking as processed coffee gains popularity.
